ALEXANDRA ROSE DAY

Do you know of any small charities that need to raise money?

I am the Administrator for Alexandra Rose Day, a 92-year-old charity, founded by Queen Alexandra, which helps small, people caring charities, all over the UK, struggling to raise money on their own.

ELSTEAD AFTERNOON WI

SUCCESSFUL QUIZ DRAWS A FULL HOUSE

The last charity function to be run in July by the Elstead Afternoon W I was a resounding success, sporting a full hall with about 110 contestants including visiting W.I. teams from the Farnham Group and local community gatherings, all of whom are thanked for their generous support.

Richard and Diana Terry compiled the questions, and they also acted as Quiz Hosts for the evening, Richard keeping the overall score for each of the eighteen teams who had selected special team names.

The W.I. committee including Mesdames Joan Dalton, Joan Matthews, Peggy Tilly, Eve Hall, Venetia Pierce, Jean Cherriman, Doris Parker and President Anne Moon, prepared a 'Ploughman's Supper'. Top prize in the raffle was a bottle of whiskey won by Ursula Dunlop and the door entry prize of a £10 Homebase voucher was won by Eve Warren. The overall winners of the quiz were the team calling themselves "The Gang of Six". The profit on the evening totalled in excess of £600, which will be added to the annual charity fund.

There is no meeting in August, but on 25th, many members are joining the coach trip to Brighton Pavilion. The next meeting will be on lst September when Mr. Fernee will speak on `All along the South Downs'.
