NEWS FROM PETER PAN PRE-SCHOOL

The term started a little later than usual in September, due to the building work on the new pavilion. Many people have commented on how spectacular the new facility is looking. If you haven't taken a walk down to this end of the village, then it's well worth a stroll to take a look. Our purpose built room is larger than our old room, with a store room and kitchen that lead directly into the pre-school area. An extra bonus will be our permanently fenced play area which we will access from our double doors. We obviously can't wait to move out of the old pavilion in the new year.

Back in July our annual Barbeque was very well attended and the bouncy castle and face painting were both popular. Thanks to local businesses and organisations who donated raffle prizes and the cricket club for running the bar, which boosted our fundraising to £950.

Although my daughter, Roma, has started at St. James School this year, I have stayed on as Chairman, to help with the transition to the new pavilion. I'm glad to say we have a new treasurer, Louise Sheppard and new committee members, Justine Moore and Tracy Puchalski, whose children attend Peter Pan. Our committee run pre-school means that parents can become actively involved in the running and decision making that affects their child's pre-school education.

We have four new children joining us this term and our theme this term is 'Who am I'. Children will investigate how they grow, what they look like, their home and family, what they wear and what they can do. We also explore the colours, blue, brown and orange and our numbers will be
1, 2 and 3.

We certainly have lots to look forward to this autumn and we have a jumble sale planned for Saturday 8th October in the village hall at 10.30 am. Donations can be dropped off between 8.30 and 10 am. Please children's books only,
NO furniture, pushchairs, electrical goods or large items.

The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice offers specialist care to those facing the end of their life and to those who love and care for them.  In patient care is offered alongside outpatient services, home support, day care and bereavement counselling.  The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice receives less than 20% of its income from the NHS, while the average for hospices is 35%, and therefore relies almost entirely on the support and generosity of the local community to provide vital care.  It costs £3.5 million a year - that's £10,000 a day or £7 a minute just to keep the Hospice running.  2004 saw the Hospice marking its 25th anniversary.
