SECTION
At our August meeting Pat Pearce came along to show us her
flower arranging. She made six wonderful arrangements depicting
countries she had visited.
These included Ireland with the Bells of Ireland (Monasella)
and small green chrysanths, Singapore, roses, crocisma and
zinnias, Thailand orchids and ferns and the Feords Norway
dahlias, carnations and small michaelmas daisies which were
mostly all white depicting mountains with snow on top. She
also made a large planter with larkspur, roses, hostas and
zinnias and a small planter with rubeckia and heathers. We
were able to raffle them off at the end of the evening so
a few of us went home with some beautiful flowers. We had
a really enjoyable evening. The monthly competition was a
summer flower arrangement 1st Betty Burton 2nd
Mary Royall.
Members were advised that from February 2006 the meetings
would change to the second Thursday of the month to the afternoon
between 2 - 4 pm. We hope this will help to attract new members.
There are still a few seats left on the coach for Holiday
on Ice at the Brighton Centre for January 28th
so if anyone is interested please let us know, this is open
to everyone you do not have to be Legion members.
November 17th will be our AGM if any of you would
like to stand for election to the Committee please let us
know.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 20th October
when Mr Mike Hall will be talking to us about the Crown Witness
Service the monthly competition will be a posy made out of
rubbish.
We meet in the Legion Barn on the third Thursday of each month
at 7.30 pm new members are always very welcome.
