GRANT AWARDS FOR PETER PAN PRE-SCHOOL

At the beginning of December we heard that we had been successful in our application for two grants awarded by SCC Early Years and Childcare Service. The first grant will pay for fencing to provide a secure outdoor play area for our pre-school. Many of you, I'm sure will fondly remember our temporary orange fencing that served us for so long! We have big plans for our new outdoor area, with future projects including a vegetable plot and wildlife area. Watch this space. The second grant, that we will receive, is to fund some equipment inside the pavilion. We plan to buy a computer workstation for the pre-school children and some room divides/display boards.

By the time you read this our Christmas celebrations will be long gone. For the first time this year, our children travelled down to Bridge House and performed their Nativity Story to the residents and staff. It was a lovely outing and the children really enjoyed it. We presented Mrs Mayne with a Christmas card for all the residents that the children had made. By the time the children came to perform for family and friends the following week, they were very well versed. Congratulations to all of them - a heart warming performance.

Our Christmas celebrations were rounded off with a party on the last day and everyone was entertained by Mr Giant, who modelled balloons and performed magic tricks, followed by a timely visit by Father Christmas.

My thanks go to Andrea, her staff, parents and friends who have supported us during the year. We couldn't have got this far without you. I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

CHARITY CHRISTMAS CARD SALE

This was held in the Village Hall on the 5th of November.  It was as usual a very enjoyable morning with 11 Charities represented.  Most of the stall holders were down on previous years, but they all expressed a desire for the event to be held again in 2006.

The raffle was very successful and took £86.20 - any profit will be sent to the Harvest Appeal at St James.
