NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

Finance
At this time of year we have to agree the budget for our plans for the coming financial year. The main provisions are :

  • to assist in the finance for the final stages of the new Pavilion
  • to upgrade the Burford Lodge recreation ground play area
  • to arrange for more seating at the Burford Lodge recreation ground
  • review the Village Design Statement and send out an addendum
  • Maintain the Burford Lodge pavilion
  • deal with the ragwort problem on the Back field
  • Carry out maintenance on our trees
  • install a new village clock
  • grass cutting on the two Greens and the recreation grounds
  • village general maintenance - Handyman
  • Woolfords Lane Cemetery maintenance

A major change in our finances will be caused by the leasing of the Thursley Rd Recreation Ground pavilion to the Trust who will take over the running costs and also receive the rental income. It will probably take some time for these changes to settle down into the new pattern.

Planning
Waverley Borough Council are implementing changes to the planning system following recent changes to the law. These will also impact on how our Parish Council deals with planning applications particularly where we raise an objection and need to justify our case with reasons.

Road signs
New road signs have been put in place for Hookley Lane and Thursley Rd but the former was knocked over within a few days but is now back up again and we have also asked WBC to clean several of the existing signs.
