NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

At last we have some action to slow the speed of traffic passing through our village. The new Vehicle Activated Sign in Milford Rd which checks the speed of approaching vehicles is a welcome innovation. The police and Surrey CC advise that they wish to try it out on Farnham Rd and Thursley Rd as well. They also ask that village residents look after the sign and report anyone seen damaging it.

Elstead Spring Clean Day is on Saturday 8th April
This is the day when as many volunteers as possible meet at the Village Green at 10 am and we spend the morning cleaning up all the litter in places where the Waverley BC contractors never reach. We provide yellow safety coats and litter pickers.

Please come along and help.

Thursley Rd Recreation Ground children's play area is at the final stage of installation of the new train, new fencing and movement of the slide. Two seats are ready for fixing and when it is all finished, I am sure that the children will enjoy it and the parents, grandparents and friends can relax on a seat while the youngsters play on the equipment.

Construction of the new Pavilion is almost completed ! Many thanks to all the volunteers who are working so hard on it.

GRACE NOTES

'Talking Music' is a Christian group from Newham, who have put together a presentation that includes music, drama, readings and visual media into new programme called `Grace Notes` that explores the themes of God's gracious love and our response of a gracious life - both inspired by the life of Jesus.

Churches Together in Elstead have invited them to put on this presentation for us as the centre-piece of our Lent activities.  It will be in the Elstead United Reformed Church, Milford Road, on Saturday 18th March 2006 at 7.30 pm, and everyone is most welcome to come along.

Entrance is free, but Programmes will be available at £2 each and there will be a Retiring Collection in aid of Newham URC's Employment Training Programme.
