NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

The Council is most grateful for the sponsorship of the two new seats at the children's play area at the Thursley Rd Recreation Ground by The Elstead Traders Association and The Elstead Tenants Association. We also wish to thank David Harmer our Surrey County Councillor for funding the new model train from SCC money under his control. We hear that parents and children are really delighted with the improvements.

The Annual Parish Meeting is on Wednesday April 19th at 7.30 pm at the United Reformed Church Hall, when the Parish Council reports to the village on the past year and outlines plans for the future, giving you the opportunity to ask questions.

After the meeting there will be a talk with slides entitled "Surrey's Last Wilderness" given by Dr Rob McGibbon. For centuries, the lives of the inhabitants of Elstead and neighbouring villages have been closely linked to their surrounding heathland commons, Rob McGibbon explores the history of Surrey's heathland and looks at the work that is being done to conserve it.

ELSTEAD SPRING CLEAN DAY IS ON SATURDAY 8th APRIL

This is the day when as many volunteers as possible meet at the Village Green at 10 am and we spend the morning cleaning up all the litter in places where the Waverley BC contractors never reach. We provide yellow safety coats and litter pickers.

Please come along and help.
