ELSTEAD EVENING WI.
Report of meeting held on Tuesday 22nd May 2006

Our May meeting was to discuss two subjects, of the Resolutions. The WI are represented on several Government committees and we are urged to give our support to these resolutions.

1
Renewable Energy
The governments aim is to build thousands more houses without thinking of services such as water, power etc.  The use of energy technologies in all new buildings, rebuilding and renovation should be adopted now.

2
Sport and Health
We urge the Government to recognise that participation in sport is essential for a healthy population. Take steps to reverse the decline in the availability of our sports fields and competitive sport in all schools

Our members said yes to support these motions.  The meeting continued with our competition being won by Susan Holmes - Something from abroad, with her Weavers Bird nest.

On a lighter note we ended the meeting with an enjoyable game of Beetle.

Our Spring Sale takes place in the Youth Centre on May 27th at 10 to 12.  Donations at the door.  All are welcome.  Tea & Coffee will be served.  Stalls of cakes, Bric a Brac, Greetings Cards table with numerous things and a Raffle.

THANKS FOR ALL THE CONTRIBUTIONS

Jean & John Cherriman would like to thank all those who contributed to the tombola stall at the Spring Fair making it such a success.

PETER TAPP

As many of you will know by now, Peter was discharged from hospital on April 6th - I'm sorry for the delay in sending our thanks, but things have been a bit hectic since then.

We would like to express our sincere thanks for all the cards, get well messages, prayers and support you have given to us over the past seven months.  It has been a long, hard journey, with still a long way to go, but Peter made it.

Thank you for the time and encouragement you showed to Peter by your visits in the hospital, which he always looked forward to.  I don't know what we would have done without the support of the wonderful friends and neighbours of dear old Elstead.

Thank you.

Peter, Rita & Alyson Tapp.
