So yet another cricket season is upon us and we're excited. The club is full of anticipation about the possibilities for the season on the field of play. Will the 1st X1 be able to continue the good form of 2005 and even improve on it to, perhaps, land the I'Anson title? Will the 2nd X1 be able to push on and, at last, secure a promotion spot from Division 4?

Just as exciting is our new pavilion. This has risen over the winter thanks to a massive amount of volunteer labour and now stands as a magnificent edifice on the Thursley Road Recreation Ground. It is a fitting testament to all those who gave of their time and their skills, and to all those who contributed funds, that we now have the best pavilion in the area, no argument. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all. If you've not been down for a look at the new building don't be shy. Pop in anytime!

On the field the season has started well. The Ones looked rusty in the first game but achieved a 'winning' draw against Grayswood. Three ten-point wins followed against Puttenham, Tilford and Chiddingfold and the side sits at the top of the table.

The Twos, too, have begun as they would wish and the top of the table beckons. A 'winning' draw against Kingsley was followed by ten-point victories over Farncombe Wanderers and Milford. A 98 not out in the latter game by skipper Richard 'Jonah' Jones has been the highlight so far.

It's early days but let's hope that both teams can keep up the good work.
