ELSTEAD
AFTERNOON
WI
Meeting held on Thursday, lst June, 2006
An invitation to a `Extraordinary Day' was extended
to members and guests of Elstead Afternoon WI. and they
were asked to wear wedding outfits and hats. We were delighted
to welcome as our guests, Pip Davis, Chairman of the Surrey
Federation, Jean Gable from Performing Arts, Joy Scribbans,
Convener for the Surrey Group and Gill Corke our WI Advisor.
As members entered looking glamorous in their beautiful
and varied outfits, they found tables adorned with flowers
and an invitation to a three course summer lunch followed
by coffee. This was served by members of the committee
and four husbands who kindly volunteered to help with
the washing up! Of course, no lunch in June would be complete
without strawberries and cream.
WI business was kept to a minimum but Jill Stewart was
congratulated on her very successful coffee morning for
our Charity, which this year, is the Elstead Pavilion,
Members were asked for donations to our cake stall at
the Elstead Marathon on Friday, 7th July. We
are looking forward to our next Charity event, which is
a Jacket Potato lunch in Eve Hall's lovely garden
on Tuesday, 11th July and our visit to Windsor
in August.
After lunch we all sat back and enjoyed a light-hearted
show of sketches and music based on a `wedding theme'
produced by the Drama Group.
A very happy ending to this Extraordinary Day.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, 6th July
with a talk on Food for Health.
