NEWS FROM PETER PAN PRE-SCHOOL

I hope you're all enjoying the summer now that the children have started their holidays. As usual we were very busy right up to the end of term. We were delighted to be asked to display at the United Reform Church Flower Festival. The children created collages, based on the theme of 'colours of the rainbow' and they also had great fun flower arranging with a variety of different coloured flowers. They produced over 12 little posy displays made with roses, lilies, lavender, hydrangea to name but a few - the smell was wonderful. Some of the other themes we explored this term were, summer foods, picnics and the seaside.

Sports Day was also very enjoyable, with the reception class from St. James School joining us down at the recreation ground, as well as sisters, brothers and grandparents. The weather held out for us and our picnic afterwards.

As well as being the end of term it was also time to say goodbye to several of our girls and boys who are off to primary school this September. We wish them all the best when they start their new adventure in the Autumn.

Our new term begins on Wednesday, 6th September and we have extended our opening hours to 38 weeks for 2006/2007, which is in line with most schools in Surrey. We only have a few places left for September, so if Peter Pan is on your list of nurseries to visit then please ring Helen on 703456 and we would love to show you our pre-school in action.

HOSEPIPE BAN

The other day while walking along a road in Elstead I was surprised to see a man washing his car with a hose.  When I asked him if he knew about the current ban on hoses for washing cars and watering gardens he said "No".

According to the map on their web site
http://www.southeastwater.co.uk/ the whole of Elstead is in the South East Water district.  On this web site there are details of a ban on the use of hosepipes for garden watering and washing cars.
