GOOD COMPANIONS

As in the norm , we do not have a meeting in August, instead an outing to the sea for a day, but it so transpired we did neither! It appeared that it was the most popular week for Elstead folk taking their holiday,  a number of our members and friends who join us on such occasions doing just this, and those who were not we off like wise, three days after our selected date, which therefore depleted our numbers and having scoured the village I could not get the numbers up to  even half fill the coach. Those who were still available of course were disappointed, but unfortunately life does have its disappointments - don't we all know !

At the time of writing, we have not yet had our September meeting, but are looking forward to our Autumn and Winter programme, which will be covering varied subjects, and we all come away having either increased our knowledge on a certain subject, or had light entertainment of some sort.

Anyone wishing to 'Try us out' as it were would be very welcome.  We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month at the village hall. 2.30 pm but please note it will be on the third Thursday this month. Our Subscription rate will not ruin your bank balance (under £5.00) There is always a tea and you can meet up with our old friends ( and maybe new).

LINK ROMANIA

Many of you will know by now that I am the organiser for the Link Romania Shoe Boxes. Leaflets about what to put into the boxes are situated at the back of the two churches in Elstead, St James' and the URC. Could I ask you to let me have these by the end of October please as I have to get them to Worthing by the beginning of November. You can leave them at the back of the Church if this helps, or get them to my house, or I can collect locally if this is a problem. May I remind everyone that a £2 coin has to be taped to the box to pay the transport costs.

Thank you.
