NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

A new village clock has been selected and ordered. It is set by a radio pulse control so we will no longer have the problem of dealing with time changes in the difficult to  access wooden case. Many thanks go to Keith Williamson for his technical advice.

The sub committee has been  planning the new equipment to upgrade the Burford Lodge Recreation Ground play area with the assistance of two co-opted parents - Anne Thomas and Simon Hancock. We hope to get a grant from SITA to assist in funding and to aim to provide for a slightly older age range than the Thursley Rd area.

The Milford Pumas Youth Club football team will be playing matches at the Burford Lodge ground this winter.

Councillors Richard Terry and Tic Jeffery have been nominated as the Parish Council representatives on the Elstead ( Thursley Road) Recreational Trust

The Chairman has asked the MOD and English Nature to include the potential impact on Elstead when a review is carried out of the safety aspects of control of fires on the commons in consultation with the fire services.

The Inspector's Report on the A3 Trunk Road Hindhead Improvement has been received together with the Secretary of State's decision to proceed with the Highway Agency proposals for a tunnel' subject to a further 6 weeks consultation on the effect of  cost increases.

The Parish Council has decided to write to the Chief Planning Officer of Waverley Borough Council to enquire about their policy on the inclusion of S106 agreements in planning consents for the purpose of providing funds for infrastructure projects in the parish.

Any resident of the Parish who may be contemplating standing as a candidate for the Parish Council at the elections next May is very welcome to come along to our meetings to see how we conduct the affairs of the Parish.

The next Parish Meeting is on Monday 16th October at the URC Hall.
