ELSTEAD VILLAGE TENNIS CLUB

Elstead have a vibrant junior tennis section with over 150 children from 3 -16 taking part in tennis courses all through the year.  The children at the club have the opportunity to participate in after school lessons, courses and tournaments in the holidays, individual and small group lessons at the weekends and playing in teams from under 8's to under 16's, plus the adult teams. With a ratio of 1.6 of coach to pupil, and licensed, qualified coaches, the children don't just have a great learning environment; they have great fun as well.

Compared with most clubs, Elstead keeps the older children playing. Some of our 16 year olds have been playing at the club since they were 5, and with this commitment has come substantial success for a small village club. In 2005 Dougie Barker won the Surrey under 14 competition, followed by Gwilym Flint Roberts in 2006.  We currently have 4 children who have been recognised by Surrey. Sophie Lewis is in the under 12 squad (she has also been picked up by the National coaches), Zak LaCosta is in the under 10 squad - he's only just 8- Will Burden just missed being in the squad, but should get a game for the Surrey B team, and Maisie LaCosta, who will be attending the next Surrey Road Show.

The coaches at the club encourage every child in the programme to achieve their full potential, but most of all to give them a game that they will be able to play for life.

Don't think we have forgotten the adults. There's:

  • Ladies morning on a Tuesday 9.15 - 11.45
  • Cardio tennis for all abilities Monday morning and Tuesday evening
  • Club Night Thursday 7-9 pm
  • Internal leagues for all abilities
  • Teams playing in local leagues
  • Tournament

Coaching for beginners, rusty rackets and team players daytime and evenings
