THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
SURREY COUNTY CHAIRMAN’S CUP
AWARDED TO ELSTEAD BRANCH

On the 27th of January 2007 at The Royal British Legion Surrey County Conference, the Elstead Branch was awarded two prize’s, The Chairman’s Cup and the H. Goodwin Memorial Shield. This Shield is the 2nd place Standard Bearers Award and was presented to a very worthy winner, Andrew Jones. Well done Andrew.

The Chairmen’s Cup is a large and magnificent cup awarded to the Branch, who by their actions have demonstrated the efficient management of the Branch and its administration and contributed towards the social and service work within the village.

Good team work coupled with hard work from the Branch Committee, the Club and the Women’s Section were, I believe, the principle factors for this award, and I thank everyone who was involved.

It is important that we keep up this momentum by encouraging people to join The Royal British Legion and to participate in the activities offered by the Club and join one or more of the sporting sections, Bowls, Golf, Pool and Darts, all of which have a good fixture list and will welcome new players from novice upwards. There is of course an excellent bar and this is a good place to bring your friends and meet other members. The bar is open from 6 o clock every evening.

You do not have to be an ex-member of the armed forces, to join The Royal British Legion, but you must be 18 years old or more, and its open to all members of the community both male and female. You will find us at Stacey’s Farm Thursley Road, Elstead, just 100 yards from the Spar Shop.

Branch Chairman.
