The Meeting held on 8th March, had as it's guest Speaker,
Canon Peter Bruinvels, the R.B.L. County Field Officer.
It was a very amusing and informative talk, covering
a wide range of welfare work for the 'needy' in the
Surrey area, considered by some to be a very affluent region,
but in some cases, quite the reverse. We were told of payments
made by the R.B.L. on applications for items as diverse as
T.V. Licenses and Stair Lifts, and of Holidays available at
2 venues in the U.K.
It was a very interesting talk, followed by tea and cake,
after which Canon Bruinvels gave out two leaflets to each
Member present, covering monies received for the Poppy Appeal,
and services supplied by 'Poppy Direct' for Motor
(including Break down Cover) Home, Private Medical, Travel
and Pet Insurance.
A day trip is being arranged to the Poppy Factory on Thursday,
13th September, (lunch can be ordered in advance)
and if we can fill a 49 seater coach, the cost will be £6
per head. If you are interested please contact
Sandra on 702050.
The next Meeting will be on Thursday, 12th April,
the Speaker being Keith Pearce, on Gardens, please come along
and join us, any new members will be very welcome.
