THE CATHOLIC
CHURCH
THE
POWER
OF
THE
RESURRECTION
Do
you see that by obtaining the power of the resurrection
through baptism you are empowered to live a whole new life,
for you have been recreated into the likeness of God
through Christ ?It is through living by this risen power
of the Holy Spirit that you are daily being transformed
. Our Christian life is one of continual progress
. Yes, you may still struggle & even
sin , but we can be assured that 'he who is in you is greater
than he who is in the world' [John 4:
4] Ultimately the power of the risen Jesus
allows us to conquer all sin . In daily beholding the glory
of the risen Jesus , we ourselves' are being changed
into his likeness from one degree of glory to another
; for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit ' [2
Cor. 3:18]
Our natural life here on earth is daily swallowed up by
the supernatural life of the risen Jesus , & this risen
life is the divine life of the Holy Spirit dwelling
within us . We are being transformed into the
likeness of the risen Christ & thereby being fashioned
into being the children of the Father .This ' swallowing
up ' is the joy & excitement of being a Christian
. In the Easter season , the risen Jesus wants us to
experience the risen power of his Holy Spirit .
He wants us to remind us of the transforming work of the Holy
Spirit that took place at our baptism, & he wants
us to experience the power of his resurrection when
we receive him in the Eucharist . Lastly , he wants
us to live by the power of the Holy Spirit so that we
can give glory to God his Father in our deeds of love
to one another.
