TRAIDCRAFT

If you would like to know first hand what Traidcraft does, you could join one of the 'Meet the People' tours.  These tours cover India, Bangladesh, South Africa, Thailand, Chile, Kenya, Cuba, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Zambia, the Philippines and Peru.

I recently met two people who had been to India on one of the tours.  They were very enthusiastic about what they had seen and experienced.  Yes, they also visited the Taj Mahal but equally impressive were the people whose lives Traidcraft had changed for the better.

If you would like more information about these tours, phone 0870 444 1774 or ask me, phone 01252 702450.

I have just heard that Zaytoun Olive Oil will be available mid-May.  It will be sold in 500 ml bottles.

SPRINGFIELD  SURGERY PATIENTS GROUP

Open Meeting Saturday 12th May 2007  2.00 p.m. at URC Hall

  • Professor D. Russell - Jones, Consultant in Diabetes at the Royal Surrey will give a talk on diet & exercise relating to Diabetes.

  • The Practice Doctors will be there which will give you an opportunity to comment informally to them about the Practice.

  • A Person  from the Ambulance Service will speak about training in the use of defribillators.

Following the success of the first Open Meeting last year, we are giving all patients - young and old, parents and pensioners -   another chance to meet their Doctors of the Springfield Practice.

We are also very fortunate in having Professor D. Russell-Jones to speak to us about an illness which increasingly affects the population.

The defribillator has now arrived!!!  Anyone interested in finding out more about its use - and perhaps interested in joining a voluntary weekend emergency rota - will find this meeting very useful.

Light refreshments will be available during which time the Doctors and patients can talk informally.

Come along and learn and have your say!

MUSIC BY THE LAKE AT ALDRO

Burns & Webber most generously will sponsor this years’ Music by the Lake at Aldro School in aid of Prostate Cancer Research. The concert will take place on 21st July.

The format for the evening will be the same as in previous years, with picnics prior to the concert start at 7.30 pm. There will be soloist, band and a mixed choir of 150 voices * together with the now expected professional sound and lighting effects, plus, of course, the audience sing-along, this time to the well known refrains of Lennon & McCartney.

Tickets will cost £12.50 inc. a full coloured concert programme. They will be on sale by the end of May and available from Burns & Webber and the Record Corner, Godalming as well as the village shop in Shackleford. The campaign in this area of Surrey should result in a high demand for tickets. We are preparing for a complete sell-out of c2,500.

More details including the programme can be found here: www.elstead.org.uk/charity

* Male voices wishing to join please contact Ula Oakley.
