FamilyLine
Surrey supports people by providing a listening ear to people
who are facing problems or issues within their family.
Often a call that starts on one topic can, after a while,
reveal far more complex issues. This free telephone
service is staffed by trained volunteers. They help
callers identify what is at the root of a problem and help
the caller recognise his/her own options and possible solutions.
FamilyLine volunteers never judge a caller and, as all calls
are anonymous and confidential, callers can reveal their deepest
feelings and emotions.
Calls can be on topics as harrowing as domestic violence or
child abuse, or they can be from people who are feeling alone
or isolated. Each call is treated with equal importance.
So what do people talk about? Subjects range from adult
relationships, behaviour, parent/child relationships, signposting
to services, drug and alcohol issues, sexual matters, practical
issues. The service is used by young people as well
as adults.
It takes courage to pick up a 'phone and make a plea for help.
FamilyLine Surrey recognises that courage and tries to rebuild
confidence and restore self-esteem.

about what is happening"
