PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENT


The Event is being held to discuss how the museum can improve its services to you.  It is being held at the Wilfred Noyce Centre Crown Court Godalming on Saturday 14th July 2 - 4 pm

HISTORY OF THE ELSTEAD MARATHON AND RELATED RACES


Did you know that 2007 is the centenary of organised athletic events in the village (the Champion Cup), that the One Mile Race was first held in 1909 and the first 'Marathon' took place as far back as 1912? Neither did I, which is why I would like to document the history of such events before the early ones are lost to living memory forever.

If anyone has any information about the events below (or indeed any others not listed!) such as photographs, anecdotes or recollections from the perspective of an organiser or participant, would they please get in contact.

Want to find out about Elstead History, this months events in the village, the phone number of someone for the Guides, Health or one of the many Leisure Organisations in the village. You will find most of this on the web site:

This web site is visible around the world and is used by some ex-Elstead residents to keep in contact reading the monthly village news.

The web site is a non profit activity which I am responsible for, however additional input from other village residents would be appreciated.

One area in which there is always space for additions are items about the village history, whenever it happened 1066 or 2007 it can be included.

If you would like to assist, by adding further items, commenting on the existing information or pointing out omissions or errors I would be pleased to have a chat.
