FOOT AND MOUTH

We extend our sympathy to those whose lives are so disastrously affected by the current outbreak.

We hope that there will be no further sites of infection.

Jeremy Hunt our local MP organised a Public Meeting at the Elstead Village Hall on Friday 10th of August. The panel which answered questions from local people included the Minister for Rural Affairs - Jonathan Shaw, Veterinary and other Senior representatives from DEFRA, Waverley and other organisations.

The audience had many questions for the panel who were mostly well informed, but the meeting exposed a number of shortcomings in the management of the crisis.

There are related items from Waverley Council (below), and on page 8 from Bryn Morgan.

STREET SWEEPING

Elstead cleaning will be postponed due to F & M

Because of the restrictions imposed by DEFRA within the Protection zone, we have been advised that we cannot carry out any sweeping or litter picking within the 3 km diameter area. This includes much of the Milford Road (plus roads off), The Green, Thursley Road to Truxford Corner (plus roads off), plus Attleford Lane, Shackleford Road, Fulbrook Lane and Seale Road to the boundary with GBC.

We will keep you informed of any changes to this.
