A Very Big Thank You
to Elstead from the children, staff and governors, for all the support you have given to St James Primary over the last two years.

The building work is now complete and we are very proud to have two new classrooms, spacious new offices, a staffroom, music room and a disabled toilet.

Target 50K was incredibly successful in raising over £60,000 and it was due to the amazing generosity of our parents and so many wonderful individuals and organisations in the village. St James Primary has almost doubled in size over the last six years and we now have over 200 children on roll, with an increased number of staff to care for them, so the building project was vital to the future of the school.

The figure we had to raise was very daunting but everyone pulled together and we had so much fun at all the fundraising events. Our first event was the school's production of the musical Oliver two years ago. We had two very enjoyable summer balls, a duck race, Sound of Music and Grease singalongs, a Chinese New Year night, quiz night, a treasure hunt, Back to Skool disco, a very well supported five-a-side football tournament……and too many other great events to list here.

We are having a week of celebrations during the first week of October and we hope by then that all the furniture has arrived! On Thursday 4th October, Bishop Ian Brackely will bless our new building in a short service and the children will have a celebratory event on the Friday. We really hope that many of you will take the opportunity to visit the school during our open school events:

Open Morning on Wednesday 3rd October, 9.15 to 11.00 am.

Members of the School Council will show you round the classes where you will see the school in action and you can finish the tour with coffee and cakes with the staff and governors.

Open Evening on Thursday 4th October, 7.00-8.30 pm.

If you cannot make it during the day, please come to this evening event. Groups of children will be in each classroom to talk to you about the work they are doing. There will be displays in the hall and we invite you to enjoy a glass of wine with the staff and governors.

Please come and see our new resources and share in our excitement with them.
