LADIES CRICKET TEAM

Elstead Cricket Club are hoping to start up a ladies cricket team. For those who have seen me play cricket recently you will know that no experience is necessary. We will be coached by our very own Dave Cooper. It will be great fun and we will have lots of laughs. If you are interested you can ring me on 01252 703 669 or 07789 806 953 or email me terrificterrys@fsmail.net

Do ask all your friends. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Karen Terry.

NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

Reporting on the meeting held on 17th September

The heavy rains over the summer months have caused some of Elstead's pot holes to become quite large. It was suggested that the best way of getting them fixed was for members of the public to call the Surrey County Council Highways Agency on 08456 009 009 or log the problem over the internet on www.surreycc.gov.uk and follow the links through roads and transport, roads, road maintenance and reporting a pothole. The more people who complain about a specific pot hole, the more likely it will be fixed.

Our new policeman, PC Damion Berridge, came in for some public praise as he is becoming an obvious presence in Elstead, taking the time to meet with various village groups. We are hoping to see him at the 13th November meeting.

Following a special meeting with SCC Highway Engineer Simon Hall to talk about implementing effective traffic management controls, his proposals were presented at this meeting. They centred on the erection of visual gateways, enforcing the 30 mph zone through the village. It is now looking hopeful that we will have a traffic calming scheme, albeit a limited one given the small budget, early next year.

Two committee appointments were made.  Councillor Andrew Jones will join the Planning Committee and Councillor Bryn Morgan will join the Emergency Committee. Councillor Morgan worked hard during the Foot and Mouth crisis to keep the Council and public informed of the situation, including writing an informative article for the Elstead News and putting up notices on village notice boards. It is pleasing to see that Prides Farm Shop is in business again.

The next meeting is at 7.30 pm on 13th November at the URC Hall, Milford Road, Elstead.

The public is welcome and anyone wishing to raise a matter relating to Council business is able to do so at 8 pm. See you there!

Sally Place, Parish Councillor
