ELSTEAD AFTERNOON WI.

Members gathered for the Annual General Meeting on 1st November when President  Anne Moon celebrated another busy month that had included a special meeting for senior members and a lively Farnham Group meeting where Elstead had come a very creditable fourth in the competition. She thanked all those members who had helped in providing the tea at that meeting.  Betty Moxon reported on the Autumn Surrey Federation meeting in Dorking which had a particularly good presentation from Dr Paul Whittaker - a profoundly deaf musician who worked tirelessly to promote music making for deaf people.

Anne Moon presented gifts to retiring committee members and WI members who had contributed through the year. Joan Dalton read the annual report of activities which showed just what a busy year it had been, finishing with a tribute to Anne's presidency. Anne Moon said she had thoroughly enjoyed her time as President and that she looked forward to completing the portfolio for WI of the Year which would show to everyone just what an active, happy and community oriented WI we had in Elstead.

Barbara Saunders and Joan Young came from Ockford WI to act as tellers, and they supervised the election of the committee and of Betty Moxon as President.

After the business members were able to enjoy tea, and the arts and crafts exhibition.

The next meeting will be held on 6th December, and the subject will be the old time music hall with Mr S Jordan, and the competition will be a piece of costume jewellery.
