DAVID AND PATRICIA WEST

My mother and father David and Patricia lived in Elstead for many many years and although they moved to Buckinghamshire over ten years ago retained many friendships with the village.

Dad passed away in 2000, and I am sad to report that Mum passed away peacefully in her sleep on 14th October 2007.

GOOD COMPANIONS

Another interesting meeting as Mr George Yates came with his video showing how age concern take care of elderly people. He told us how we are able to apply for help, for instance help in the home, garden, being driven for appointments, attending day centres insurance, Gas and Electric. Also having hair or feet attended to. We saw elderly people doing exercises which were not too strenuous. It's amazing how the disabled cope and yet they are very cheerful.

Age Concern also works abroad, and we should think ourselves lucky when you hear how thy survive. He also mentioned alarm systems in homes , and how useful they are to contact the centre -  I have experienced it myself when my phone was cut off. The centre notified my son and BT.  There are so many more things that this charity does. I hope members took notice of the help available.

Our November meeting will be the AGM. Before that we will have had another mystery trip.

It will soon be Christmas - all hands willing for a happy day.
