It's time to put tennis dates in your
diary. The first round of the Club Championships starts on Saturday 12th April,
so entries need to be in by 5th April.
For first round losers the Plate competition guarantees at least two matches per event.
The mixed doubles Handicap is very popular and good fun, where any level of play is welcome.
Finals Day will be on Saturday 12th July, followed by a Hog Roast barbeque when the
prizes will be given out. With the new courts there will be plenty of room for everyone, so
book it in your diary now.
The draw for the Wimbledon tickets will be on Sunday 18th May at 4 pm at the clubhouse.
The chances of getting tickets are better this year as there are more Court 1 Saturday and Sunday
tickets. The finals of the Road to Wimbledon will also be taking place.
In the League the Men's A team are mid-table in the premier league and the B team are in line
for as second or third place in league 2.
The Ladies A are in third place in league 2 and the B team are pushing for promotion from league
4. The mixed team have an excellent chance of winning league 2.
The club has joined the Vets (over 35) Tennis GB, so more scope to play.
The juniors are as busy as ever, how we would all love their energy!
The Girls under 16 appear to have won their league and the under 13's have unofficially done
the same, so well done. The Boys under 16 has had a poor winter due to unavailability,
whilst the very young under 13 team will finish mid-table in Division 1.
Daisy Phillips, 7 yrs, has been identified by Surrey as very promising.
Jody Burrage, 9 yrs, is training at the National Training Camp.
Mini tennis is proving very popular, so look on the website http://www.elsteadtennis.net
