GOOD COMPANIONS

March came in like a lion as the saying goes, but after such awful weather our meeting was blessed with beautiful sunshine. It was very disappointing to have only sixteen members present.

John Witton was an ex Army Chaplain and gave a very interesting talk about the army cadets, there  are girls as well as boys aged from twelve to seventeen. They are taught many activities, one in particular is How to use a Rifle, loading and cleaning etc - not an item to ignore. Many came from broken homes and realised it was not a holiday camp. There were happy times as well as training in all weathers. He stressed they appreciated discipline. The cadets do not wear uniform, but change on the premises because of insults.

Those who missed the talk were unlucky as the rest of us enjoyed every minute.

Thank you to our tea ladies and also for the Grand Raffle.

At our next meeting the talk will be on "Keeping Fit". I hope we will have better attendance, please do your best to attend.
