During May this year the Milford and Villages Day Centre is adopting a new operating name
The Clockhouse
reflecting our logo and the clock on the roof of our building in Chapel Lane, Milford.

For more than 20 years, the last 10 in Chapel Lane, the Centre has been providing a warm and welcoming place for those over 50 years of age to meet and make new friends, to enjoy lunch and to use the wide range of services provided, including our minibus transport.

All of this service to the community will continue but under the new name of The Clockhouse we are introducing new activities such as Art Classes, Dance and Computer Tuition and new destinations for our twice yearly holidays.

So if you are not among the more than 200 members who already enjoy our services or the 70 volunteers who help to provide them, why not come along and find out more. Just call in or ring the manager Jules Milton, on 01483 420668, for information.

ELSTEAD AFTERNOON W.I

54 members and visitors attended the Village Hall for the May meeting and President, Betty Moxon, welcomed 3 new members who had joined this month.

Betty went through the packed programme of forthcoming events, commencing with a coffee morning at the end of May, the annual cream tea at the beginning of June, and a jacket potato lunch (all in members' gardens) in July.  Also at the end of June various members were opening their gardens for Charity, and a summer outing had been arranged to Parham House in Sussex at the end of July.

This month was the Resolution Meeting when members discuss two Resolutions  and the arguments for and against.  The Resolutions were "Seeking an EU ban on Bottom Trawling" and "Inappropriate Imprisonment of the Severely Mentally Ill".  Both these Resolutions were discussed at length with arguments for and against.  The first was passed but with a discretionary vote given to our delegate, who will attend the NFWI AGM in Liverpool in June.   However the second Resolution was passed unanimously.

The afternoon finished with a musical quiz which was much enjoyed by all.
