GOOD COMPANIONS

Our meeting on Thursday 26th  June was highlighted by a concert given by the pupils of St James' School and what a performance! Starting with traditional songs by the whole group and followed by individual solos by flute, violin, clarinet and guitar - and even a young lady juggler. Most striking was a trumpet solo! The concert finished with a rousing Sea Shanty - "The Drunken Sailor" no less. Even when the singing was over we were entertained by individual card tricks, and a repeat of the juggling. They all thoroughly deserved the applause and refreshments that followed. Thanks to their dedicated teachers.

The rest of the meeting included a most delicious tea - thanks to committee and our Chairman Madge.

The next meeting will give Committee members a deserved rest for it will the turn of members to run proceedings with a surprise or two. This will be on Thursday 24th July. Do come and bring a friend.

ELSTEAD ROYAL BRITISH LEGION WOMEN'S SECTION

The Meeting on the 10th  July, took the form of a Garden Party, which due to unpleasant weather had to be held in the Barn. and our guests were Margaret Cook, the County Chairman and her sister.

The 'Sweets and Flowers' stall, manned by Eileen Mitchell and Irene Reffold, with goods supplied by them, was a 'sell out' and the Raffle, with prizes brought by the Members, as usual, was also a great success.

The buffet tea of sandwiches and cakes etc, follwed by strawberries and ice cream was much appreciated and despite the weather we all had a pleasant afternoon.

The next Meeting is on August 14th , the Speaker being Lady Burgess, on 'Being an Army Wife'
New Members are always welcome, and if you are interested please contact Sandra on 702050
