RECYCLING REPORT

Saturday 20th September saw Thursley and Elstead's third very successful Bring & Take Morning.  Each time there has been a different mix of items brought in with household/garden being the biggest this time and not so many clothes.  As previously, some larger things like a bike didn't get in the door before finding a new home.  At the end we had a large car load of computers, monitors and televisions to take to Witley Amenity Site and the unwanted clothes, furnishings and bric-a-brac were given to Godalming's charity shops.  The left over books were once again gratefully accepted for Frimley Park Hospital which makes money from selling them to patients and visitors.  So it was only a small truck load which went off to Slyfield and eventually landfill but we were assured that wood and metal would be taken out first.

It seems that Thursley and Elstead have really taken to these events which help in a small way to reduce the amount going to our fast running out landfill sites.  We were asked repeatedly when the next one will be so I have asked my contact at Surrey County Council if sometime after Christmas would be alright (they pay for the hire of the hall).

Finally, many thanks to my regular hard working helpers: Ginny Lindley plus her three strong young men (great for lifting large items), John Gunner and Mick Chant our Village Hall Caretaker.
