FROM YOUR LOCAL PC

Since my last update we have had Hallowe'en which, as you know, is a big occasion for our younger generation. It is also a big occasion for Surrey Police due to the number of staff that are out and about making sure the public are kept safe from the more undesirable trick or treaters. This year I had no cause to attend any Halloween related incidents, so a big thank you to all concerned for making the evening a success.

I have recently been stepping up my speed enforcement in the village and I have to say that by and large the speed of the traffic through the village has been consistently low. I know there will be a few of you saying " I saw a car doing 70 along Thursley Road the other day " and what about that vehicle doing all of 60 along the Milford Road on Sunday morning?" these are comments I get everytime I do speed enforcement, along with "you should have been here at 7'o clock this morning?" and "why do you have to wear that bright yellow jacket? they always slow down when they can see you" and really that is the point, to get traffic to slow down. My aim is lower the speed of traffic through the village, if I'm out doing speed enforcement for say an hour and I don't issue any speeding tickets then I'm perfectly happy because the point is being made, just by my presence, we do not carry out speed enforcement just to raise revenue, road safety is paramount in our concerns.

I have continued to monitor the parking issues around St James School in Elstead at dropping off/picking up times and I have to say well done to the parents/guardians concerned as by and large they are adhering to the parking regulations.

During October I have been working together with the MOD police on Hankley Common in an attempt to catch trials motorcyclists using the Common ( which is illegal ) but bad weather on each occasion curtailed our efforts. However, we will be out and about again. On the subject of trials bikes, if you are a user of these bikes please stay to the official Green Lanes and under no circumstances use any of the bridleways in the area. I have had a number of reports of trials bikes using such bridleways and this has to stop. We have the power to seize the bikes if found using the bridleways so if you value your bike keep to your designated areas.

All that leaves me to say is have a "Very Merry Christmas" & "A Happy and Prosperous New Year"
