LEGION CLUB AGM

This was held in the Legion Barn on Friday 12th of December.

Following the emergency meetings earlier in the year and with club members running the club and bar a pending bankruptcy has been avoided. Accounts for the 2 month period with the club run by volunteers are showing considerably improved income.

A vote of thanks to Doug Moore the Treasurer for his outstanding work during the year was agreed.

Committee Elections.
The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were re-elected, of the 9 committee members 4 have been replaced with new faces.

It was agreed that the Secretary and Treasurer should be elected members of the committee allowing them to vote on committee decisions.

This being the 60th year in the present buildings, a celebration is to be held later this year (2009).

GOOD COMPANIONS

Our meeting on Thursday 27th November included our AGM during which Treasurer Sylvia reported on the current year's financial position.  Copies of the audited account were circulated that were duly approved, proposed and seconded, and members were pleased to see we had a healthy balance at the Bank.

Chairman Madge then reported that although we were only able to have a reduced number of outings this year, we enjoyed good meetings and also welcomed a small number of new members.  Madge then gave details of the next meeting which as usual this time of year would be as a Christmas party with presents of a seasonal nature being put into Santa's sack for giving out, together with distribution of Christmas cards.  Our Chairman then thanked the Committee for their good work during the year, and trusted they would continue during 2009!   All thoroughly agreed with a hearty round of applause.  There would be entertainment in the form of songs etc. accompanied by his accordion being played by Mr. Brown, at our Party followed by the usual excellent tea.

Our meeting today continued with two Quizs, one to identify flowers, trees etc. from rather mystifying clues and the other to identify wild birds.   These certainly got us all thinking hard!

Looking forward to the 18th December we wish everyone Christmas greetings and a Happy New Year.
