Vice-President Eve Hall welcomed over 60 members to the January meeting at the Village Hall.
John Manches, the Village Hall Treasurer was then presented with a cheque, being the proceeds
of the Charity fund-raising by the W.I. in 2008. John then gave a short speech of thanks.
Members were reminded that a list for Charity fund-raising for 2009 had been prepared and would
be voted on next month.
Nearly 90 members attended the annual Christmas lunch in December and afterwards enjoyed a hilarious
review given by the Drama Group.
Thanks were given to Peggy Tilly for producing the show.
In February a theatre trip is being arranged to see Les Miserables in London and on 13th
February the film "The Chronicles of Nania - Prince Caspian" is being shown in the Village Hall.
The members then had a very interesting talk by Jane Grainger, a Chartered Physiotherapist,
together with accompanying charts, x-rays and plaster models. Jane explained the importance
of exercise after undertaking hip or knee replacements and also that posture plays an important
part, particularly in back injuries. Jane demonstrated on a willing helper, her
mother, showing exercises that could be done while lying in bed and also various neck exercises.
The competition "Granny's remedy" was won by Ursula Dunlop.
The next meeting will be 5th February 2009.
