ANOTHER OUTSTANDING REPORT FROM OFSTEAD !

Our inspection was more limited in scope this time because we are already considered such a good school with inspectors only in school for one day. It was again very gratifying to receive professional confirmation of the high standards we are achieving.

Particularly exciting this time was the recognition from inspectors that we are offering an outstanding curriculum - the result of sustained focus, innovation and commitment from the whole range of staff who have worked and continue to work with us.  Particular mention must be made, however, of the significant impact senior teacher Mrs Fisher has had in driving this initiative and her inspirational influence on staff and children alike. It is perhaps no coincidence that one of our parents, Mrs Jane Henderson, has also won the national Food for Life 'Greatest Grown-up' Award for the tremendous work she has done guiding and developing our Vegetable and Fruit gardens. The inspectors remarked that the way we have embraced the Food for Life project and successfully use these resources throughout our curriculum ranks us amongst only a handful of exceptional schools they have seen across the whole country. The inspectors again quite rightly highlighted the significant positive influence of Ann Tann who continues to lead the school forward with such passion, understanding and dedication. At no point does Ann allow herself or her staff to rest on their laurels  - the summer holidays see improvements to our playgrounds, kitchen and adventure trail, along with the exciting development of a Children's Centre on site - all of which are the culmination of many hours planning, persuading and dogged pursuit of funding with the sole aim of improving outcomes for our children and families.  We are extremely fortunate to have been blessed with such a Headteacher and staff who are prepared to go that extra mile.

The inspectors also write a letter to each child in the school and we are delighted that they especially praised the children for their outstanding contribution to our school and their wider community. They loved the Paper Boats and were very impressed by the work of the School Council, Green Team and SNAG.

The governors are very aware that we would not be where we are today without the tremendous support that our parents and our local community give to the staff and school in so many ways. Our logo, many of our eco-friendly features and our fabulous productive and flower gardens are just some of the ways the school has benefited from your talents, energy and commitment.

So, a huge thank you to you all and congratulations to our lovely school…and now back to the daily business of 'Bringing out the Best'.

William Lang
Chairman of Governors
