RECYCLING QUERIES

Every now and then I receive a phone call from a resident with a recycling query.

The latest calls have been about recycling plastic food containers.  Some people don't realise that plastic food pots and trays should not be put in the kerbside box along with plastic bottles.  The kerbside box is only for plastic bottles, food and drinks cans and aerosols.  The Recresco plastic bottle banks at Sainsbury's and Beacon Hill now have a round, red sticker saying: 'We now collect - yogurt, margarine, and liquitab tubs, microwavable tubs and plastic plant pots'.  You can also put in any sort of food tray or container so long as it is not made of 'foam' plastic.  Plastic bags and bubble-wrap are also not wanted.  It is best not to use these banks for plastic bottles (use your kerbside box) as they soon become full which is what seems to have happened recently when I took my hard plastic recycling to Sainsbury's.  Waverley has told me that they are asking for the banks to be emptied more frequently.  However, if a bank is full, bags of recycling must not be left near the bank as they will not be taken away.  Annoying as it is, you should take your recycling home and try again another time.

By far the most frequent query I have is for the date of the next Bring & Take Morning.  I have now arranged for this to be on Saturday 12th September in Thursley Village Hall, from 10 am to 12 noon.  If you have any queries about these events do please give me a call.
