The new season for the Sharks starts on Saturday 5^th September 2009 at Thursley Road Recreation Ground at 09:30
We plan to build on the success of last season, our first as a registered club with Surrey FA.
The season's highlight was when 44 players turned out for the Sharks at Ewhurst in 5 different age groups.
This season we will have squads for children from Year 1 through to Year 7 (see below).

Year 3 (U8) and below.  Coach: Andy Walker.
Andy successfully completed his FA Level 1 Coaching Course in June this year.This squad has huge potential. They were unbeaten at the Ewhurst tournament.This year they will play in an U8 friendly league with matches every 2 to 3 weeks against local clubs. We will arrange some U7 (Year 2) friendlies. They will also play in some end of season tournaments.

Year 4 (U9).  Coach: Gary Busby.
This squad has some of the most talented players in the club. Last season they played all their matches in an age group 1 year above. It will stand them in good stead this season as they will be playing in a friendly league at U9 level against local clubs.

Year 5 and Year 6 (U11). Coaches: Peter O'Donnell and Paul Thomas
This was undoubtedly the most improved team of the season, with results improving almost by the match. New summer signings have strengthened the squad immeasurably and we anticipate a very successful season. We will incorporate the year 5 players into the squad (as this is a small cohort), which will give them a great opportunity to strengthen their games.

Year 7 (U12). Coach: Graham Reed
The most consistent and successful Sharks team last season; this season they will join forces with Chiddingfold to form the "Chiddingfold and Elstead Sharks". They will play 11-a-side football in the North Hants league in their impressive new blue and white kit. They will play their home league matches at Chiddingfold and train midweek under floodlights at Burford Lodge Recreation Ground, Elstead.

Farewell
We say goodbye to the Year 8 squad (U12 last season). With a move to 11-a-side in this age group, there weren't quite enough players to form a squad. This team performed extremely well on the occasions that they players and especially at the Ewhurst Tournament, where they lost only one match - to the eventual winners. We wish them all the very best. They were a pleasure to coach and the Sharks will miss them all.
