Mega Mufti
Just a reminder that
the Mega Mufti is back by popular demand. All schools
in the Diocese have been invited to take part in a non-uniform
day on January 29th, for a donation agreed
by the school. All money received will be set aside for
applications for funding from the many projects addressing
homelessness in the Diocese.
This date is during Homeless Awareness week, during which
many churches and groups in the Diocese will be holding
special events .For more information and ideas visit the
Housing Justice website. If you have any contact with
a school in the Diocese, please encourage them to take
part. Please help us to make this a really worthwhile
event!!

Roadshows
At the time of
writing we are halfway through our "2009 Grand Tour"
Many thanks to all who turned out to hear about BGF
at the various venues, and apologies to anyone who
couldn't find one to suit. All the evenings
were interesting and beneficial; some good connections
were made, and great ideas shared. We really appreciated
all the helpful suggestions about how we could take
the foundation forward.
We also received several invitations to visit individual
parishes or groups. It is clear that the only way
to really tell people about the Foundation is face
to face. We are more than happy to visit anyone who
is interested. Please contact us on 07771 591

Project Profile:
Community Minibus, Normandy, Guildford
In 2001 the combined efforts of the residents of Normandy
and the Emmanuel Church of Normandy, raised enough
money to purchase a used minibus to help transport
villagers, especially the elderly and disabled people,
around the local area. There are no local shops
and the Normandy bus, driven by volunteers, has become
invaluable to elderly and disabled local residents
for their weekly trips to the supermarkets. The
minibus is also used and valued by many organisations
within the village for transportation to events
and day trips out.
The original minibus was becoming past its prime,
and this year an appeal received fantastic support,
raising £37,000, including a grant of £500 from The
Bishop of Guildford's Foundation. This has enabled
the purchase of a replacement brand new bus, specially
adapted for disabled users.
