NEWS FROM ELSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

The Council was very pleased to see the opening of the allotments and the horticultural work already taking place by allotment holders. The set up costs were all agreed.

Elstead Tennis Club have increased the height of the floodlights on two courts by approximately a metre without consultation or planning approval. The Council disapproves of this action and the Clerk was instructed to inform the Club that the poles must be returned to the original eight metre height.

A new policy for grant applications was agreed and is published as a separate article.

We are pleased with the response for sponsoring bench seats at the Thursley Rd Recreation Ground and three are already in place.

After concerns were expressed about car parking around the village green, it was agreed that the SCC Highway Engineer would be consulted for advice.

Good news: the SCC Highway Engineer has sent new proposed plans for a pedestrian crossing at the Milford Rd/Hookley lane junction for our inspection  and advice.

Date of next meeting  - Tuesday 8th December (not 7th Dec)

PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE CELEBRATES ITS 30TH BIRTHDAY!

When we first opened our doors in 1979, we were revolutionary. We launched into a world that knew very little about the special care and needs of adults living with life-limiting illnesses and those who care for them. We gradually made an impact, not only in the provision of this specialist care, but also in its research and education. We have achieved so much in our rich and challenging 30-year history and we want to celebrate this success with you.

We want to thank you, our local community, for all the support you have given to us over the last 30 years. It is wonderful that we have been able to offer all our services completely free of charge to all of the 10,000 patient admissions and their families we have cared for over the last three decades.  We have to raise over £10,000 a day in order to keep our doors open and this can only be achieved thanks to you.

Below are a few of the events taking place between now and Christmas.

  • wine@nine Hold a wine@nine party anytime during November and December. Enjoy festive drinks with friends whilst raising funds for the Hospice. Contact us to request a wine@nine pack.
  • Christmas Fayre Saturday 5th December at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Farnham. 10 am - 2:30 pm
  • Santa Fun Run: Aldershot Sunday 6th December at Queens Avenue Playing Fields. 11 am
  • Light Up A Life Monday 7th December at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Farnham 6:30 pm - a special outdoor service of remembrance around our Christmas tree. We are appealing to our community to dedicate a light on the tree in memory of a loved one.
  • Santa Fun Run: Guildford Sunday 13th December at Stoke Park. 12 noon
  • Music at Christmas Thursday 17th December at St Andrew's Church, Farnham. 7:30 pm
