GOOD COMPANIONS

Our meeting on Thursday 26th November was our A.G.M and this year was Chaired by Pam Moss who stood in for Madge who was in hospital having a hip replacement. All members signed a Get Well Soon card, and a member who will be visiting the RSCH in a day or two will call in to see Madge.

Pam recorded there was good attendance at most meetings during the year and was pleased to see that we had a few new members who were really welcome. She then reminded us that the Christmas meeting will be held on Thursday 14th December at the usual time. Members were asked to provide table decorations, as they have done in previous years and also to bring a festive present (no tins of food please!) to go into Santa's sack. Just one strip of raffle tickets this year for the present distribution.

Treasurer Sylvia then gave us a run-down of this year's accounts, which show a healthy balance.

As a lighter item Margaret ran a Bingo game or two - something which was much enjoyed, as usual there was some hilarity amongst members!

Our Committee ladies then gave us the usual fine tea, after which they were thanked for their sterling service during the year.

Eva and Sylvia then rounded up the meeting with their usual competent raffle - so ending a very enjoyable meeting on a occasional wet and very windy November day.

BMB

Some may well question my sanity for actually choosing to run 26.2 miles all over again in the Virgin London Marathon to be held on April 25th 2010.

This will be my third consecutive marathon, but on this occasion I feel extremely privileged to be running and raising much needed funds for The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. The hospice helps to support adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their friends and family when they need it most.

All their services are free of charge, but it costs over £10,000 a day to offer such an exceptional standard of clinical care and support.

As a local community nurse I have had first hand experience of the benefits of the services offered by Phyllis Tuckwell; "adding life to years even when days cannot be added to lives."

If you'd like to support me in my fund raising efforts, please either donate on-line at justgiving.com/Ruth-JansenPhyllisTuckwell or alternatively make a cheque payable to 'Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice' and send to my work address below.

Making a donation enables the hospice to continue offering exceptional services to our community, today and into the future.

Thank you for your support.
