TRAIDCRAFT

First may I wish you all a prosperous New Year.

There will be changes to some of the products this year.  First is the range of muesli, there will no longer be an apricot but there are three new blends: Fruit and Nut, Exotic Fruit and Mixed Berries.  They are now called Geo Muesli.

To the instant coffee is a Traidcraft Organic freeze dried.  This previously could only be obtained in 500g tubs but now it is in 100g jars.

Divine Butterscotch Milk Chocolate is new to the 30g bars.

In time for Christmas came the Rosemary and Lavender  Gardeners Handsalve and a Trio of flavoured lip balms.

Then there is a Recycled Tyre Notepad with the slogan Tyred of Poverty on the front.

Tea was one of Traidcraft's earliest products, now with over £500,000 worth being sold each year.  Fairtrade tea accounts for a small percentage of the 165 million cups consumed in this country daily.  Just five tea brands account for 72% of the UK market and affects the lives of a huge number of people.  If they switched to Fairtrade it could make a real difference to many lives.  All workers/producers should receive a living wage and good working conditions.  If Nestlé can make Kit Kat a Fairtrade product, surely Tea companies can make their tea Fairtrade too.

The next coffee morning at the URC will be on Saturday January 9th.  See you there.
